Show Notes

There have been recent reports that Bali authorities are cracking down on the rental and use of scooters by tourists, particularly those from Australia. While there hasn't been a complete ban on tourists riding scooters, the enforcement of regulations has become stricter in an effort to improve safety on the roads. It's important for visitors to Bali to understand the local traffic laws and obtain the necessary permits before renting and riding a scooter to avoid penalties and potential accidents.Ocky and I also discussed some cultural things to keep in Mind 1. Dress appropriately: Balinese culture values modesty, so it's important to dress appropriately when visiting temples or other religious sites. Wear clothing that covers your shoulders and knees, and remove your shoes before entering any temple or shrine.2. Respect local customs and traditions: Bali is home to a rich and complex culture, with many customs and traditions that are unique to the island. For example, it's customary to wai (bow) to show respect to elders and people of higher status. Visitors should also avoid pointing their feet towards people or sacred objects.3. Be mindful of offerings: Balinese Hinduism involves daily offerings (canang sari) that are placed in homes, on sidewalks, and at temples. Visitors should be careful not to step on or disturb these offerings, and avoid taking photos of them without permission.4. Avoid public displays of affection: While Bali is a popular honeymoon destination, it's important to avoid public displays of affection as they may be considered inappropriate or offensive.5. Don't drink or do drugs in public: Balinese culture places a strong emphasis on respect and self-control, and public intoxication is generally frowned upon. Visitors should avoid drinking or doing drugs in public, and be aware that the penalties for drug offences in Indonesia can be severe.By following these cultural and religious etiquettes, visitors can show respect for Balinese culture and ensure a positive and memorable travel experience.Subscribe on Youtube Pete George on YoutubeFollow Ocky
